Business is hotting up here at LBTC, as is the weather! We might sound like optimists but it does feel like spring is finally in the air (dare we say it!) And London is a beautiful place to be when the sun comes out, provided you’re in the right spot.

Here’s a run-down of some our favourite activities in London to appreciate the change of season.

1.       Soak up the serenity of spring in the hidden waterways of London

The best way to avoid the hustle and bustle of London is to hit the canals. Always a place of tranquillity and with plenty of cute canalside little pubs and cafes to pop into along the way to soak up some sun. If you time your visit to the Grand Union Canal with the bank holiday weekend you’ll  catch the annual Canalway Cavalcade -  a colourful flotilla of canal boats that gather in Little Venice to show off their decorations and celebrate the coming of spring. Expect Morris Dancers and real ale as well as live music, refreshments and children’s entertainment.

2.       Go deer spotting in the expansive plains of Richmond Park

You’ll feel like you’re no longer in London the moment you step into this rugged haven of unkempt grass and untethered wildlife. The largest of the eight royal parks, you could spend hours wandering or cycling through it and keeping an eye out for the herds of Red and Fallow Deer that inhabit its plains. If you’re lucky you might even spot a baby deer as May-June is the time of new arrivals.

3.       Take out a sailing boat in London’s Docklands

With the strikingly incongruous backdrop of the skyscrapers of the city, you can take to the water at Docklands Sailing and Watersports Centre and try your hand at sailing or windsurfing. Every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday in the summer (starting from now!) there are open sessions where you turn up, pay and play to your hearts content. A fantastically tranquil body of water in the depths of the Isle of Dogs, it’s an unexpected delight!

4.       Watch the sunset at London’s highest public garden

Blooming far above the smog of the city, The Sky Garden at 20 Fenchurch Street is a unique public space spanning three storeys and boasting glorious 360 degree views across London. It’s free to enter the Sky Garden but you have to book a slot to secure access to one of London’s most unique parks and an unforgettable view of our capital.
