We are thrilled to be involved in a cockle-warming event today that even the coldest of October days couldn’t send a chill through. The Campaign for Wool is running a bicycle ride like no other today to start Wool week off with a blast. The Wool Ride, involving over 300 wool-loving cyclists from across the country, will be starting at Potters Field in London, at 9am sharp today (5th October).

To raise awareness about the historical and ecological importance of wool to this country the ride will be sweeping past some of the streets made famous by London’s most prominent wool supporters, including the illustrious Jermyn Street. And since any London cycle ride wouldn’t be complete without taking in the sights of iconic London landmarks, it will be passing London Bridge, Buckingham Palace, Westminster, Knightsbridge, Park Lane and Regent Street.

London Bicycle are proud to be providing all the bikes for this splendiferous event so come along and see our fleet in all their glory, carrying their wool-clad passengers. The 13.5 mile ride will end around 2pm, back at Potters Field, where our faithful cycles will be in for some woolly makeovers courtesy of the Woolen Cycle Workshop. There are prizes up for grabs for the best yarn bicycle as well as for the woolliest cycling outfit.

To get involved in the festivities come along to Potters Fields to welcome the riders at the finish line and explore the host of activities and entertainment for all ages.  There will be a food and drinks galore as well as live music, a bicycle duo, speeches and prize giving. And of course a whole lot of wool!

Hope to see you there, but if not, keep posted for the photos of our bikes in all their wooly finery.
