I’m sure none of you have missed that it’s Valentines Day in a few days. The shops are laden with cards, cuddlies, roses, and all things cheesy, romantic and pink. Whether you’re celebrating with a loved one or trying to avoid the whole shebang, London is certainly a great place to spend it this weekend. And whatever kind of Valentines you’re seeking, LBTC and our friends at Virgin Atlantic have the answer.

Check out their fantastic video guide to London, stuffed full of the best places to eat, sleep, shop, drink, dance, explore and soak up the rich culture and history of our wonderful capital. The perfect guide at any time of year this video has picked out the best London has to offer, including our humbles selves! We feature at 15:30 in the video and are very proud to do so.

If you’re looking for some inspiration this Valentines or are visiting London for the first time, this video’s a great place to start. Here are our top picks from it:

For a quirky date with a slice of history you should check out Dennis Severs’ House (16:19). This fascinating time capsule of a house is preserved exactly how the original inhabitants in the 18th century (a silk-weaving family from the East End) would have lived there. Think smouldering coal fires, flickering candlelight, antique artwork and historical curiosities.

For a truly romantic experience in one of London’s finest green spaces – Hampstead Heath – head to the Bull and Last Pub in Highgate (17:43). They provide boutique wicker picnic hampers complete with freshly made gourmet food, homemade lemonade and a picnic blanket to enjoy on the grassy hillsides of the heath. Or if the cold weather makes picnicking impossible, this pub serves up one of the best roast dinners in London next to roaring open fires.

If shopping is more your thing and you’re heading to Camden Market at the weekend, why not use some alternative London transport in the form of the Water Bus from Regents Park (18:52). Soak up some serenity cruising along the canal in style before descending into the mad and colourful milieu of Camden’s streets.

If London’s infamous climate rains on your Valentines parade there’s a great choice of independent cinemas to while away some hours and munch popcorn to your heart’s content. The Prince Charles (19:35) near Leicester Square is a great option, not only for its central location but also its quirky events, from alternative cult film nights to raucous singalong cinema.

Hopefully now you’re feeling inspired by what London has to offer for you, Valentines or no Valentines. For more ideas of what to see and do in London check out the whole video, and keep tuned to our blog!
